Spindl started at home. We’re a 50-year-old dad and his 14-year-old daughter, and we love music — vinyl, CDs and cassettes all live in our house. But we had a very real problem: we never actually knew how many records we owned. We’d be out at a shop or a fair, spot something great, and have no idea if it was already sitting on a shelf back home. We bought doubles. We forgot gems we already had.
So we built Spindl out of that frustration — a simple way to scan, catalog and value a collection so nobody has to feel that pain again. What began as a fix for our own shelves turned into a project we decided to build together.
A two-person team
Dad codes it, launches it, and fixes the bugs. Daughter runs the social channels and the marketing. Between the two of us we somehow form a pretty killer little team — and we’re having a genuinely great time doing it.
The best part isn’t the app. It’s the time. We learn from each other across different eras, genres and styles, we put records on all over the house, and we spend real hours together away from screens, digging through music. Spindl is how we share that — and we’d love to share it with you too.
