Terms of Service

Welcome to Spindl. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Yumiwi LLC, a company based in Florida, USA (“Spindl,” “we,” “us”), for your use of the Spindl apps for iOS and Android and the website at spindlmusic.com. By creating an account or using Spindl you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Spindl.

1. The service

Spindl is a tool for cataloguing and managing personal music collections — vinyl, CDs and cassettes — with barcode and catalogue-number search, AI cover recognition, record details, estimated values, recommendations and social features. We may add, change or remove features over time.

2. Your account

You must give accurate information and keep your sign-in details secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use Spindl, or older where the law of your country requires (for example, 14 in Spain). Tell us promptly about any unauthorised use.

3. Plans, AI scans and cancellation

Free plan. Includes a limited number of records and a small number of AI cover scans, as shown in the app.
Subscription (Pro). Raises your collection limit to 5,000 records (larger collections, such as shops, by arrangement), adds features shown in the app, and includes AI scans. Billed monthly or yearly as shown at checkout, and renews automatically until cancelled.
AI scans included with Pro are for the billing period they come with — the yearly amount on a yearly plan, a monthly share on a monthly plan. Each renewal resets them to that amount; included scans you didn’t use in the period before do not carry over.
AI-scan packs are one-time purchases. Scans from a pack never expire, are kept separately from included scans, and are not affected by renewals. The same applies to scans earned through referrals or gift codes. When you scan, included scans are used first and pack scans only once those run out. Scans are non-refundable once used.
Payments. Purchases in our iOS or Android app are processed by Apple or Google and are also governed by that store’s terms. Purchases on our website are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout, and you authorise the relevant provider to charge the plan or pack you choose.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time; your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. App Store subscriptions are cancelled in your Apple ID settings, Google Play subscriptions in the Play Store, and website subscriptions in your Spindl account. Refunds for store purchases are handled by that store under its own policy; otherwise, and except where the law requires, payments are non-refundable.
What cancelling does to your collection. Nothing is deleted. Your whole collection stays in your account and you can keep opening and editing it. If it is larger than the free plan’s limit, you can’t add more records until you subscribe again. Any AI scans left in your balance stay there and can still be used.
Cancelling is not deleting. Deleting your account (Settings → Delete account) is separate and permanent: it removes your collection and photos, and any scans left in your balance are lost. It does not cancel a store subscription — cancel that in the store first.
Price changes. We may change prices; we will give notice of changes to active subscriptions before they take effect.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of what you add to Spindl — your records, notes, photos, reviews and messages (“Your Content”). Uploading a photo of a record does not transfer any rights in the album artwork itself, which belong to their owners. You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process and display Your Content to provide Spindl: privately to you, and to other collectors only as your privacy settings allow or where the feature is public by nature — reviews, your public profile details, and record shops you submit to the directory. Information about a shop you submit (such as its name, address and description) may stay in the directory if you delete your account; your photos do not. Your private photos are never added to a shared catalogue unless you choose to share them. You must have the right to upload whatever you add.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use Spindl for anything unlawful, or to infringe other people’s rights.
Harass, threaten or impersonate other collectors, or send spam.
Try to disrupt, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to Spindl or its systems.
Scrape Spindl, or make automated requests beyond reasonable personal use.
Upload malicious code, or content that is illegal, harmful or infringes intellectual property.

6. Copyright and content complaints

If you believe something on Spindl infringes your copyright or is otherwise unlawful, email hello@spindlmusic.com with the subject “Content complaint”, and include: who you are and how to contact you; the work or right concerned; where the content is on Spindl (a link or screenshot); and why you believe it is infringing or unlawful. We will review it, remove or restrict the content where appropriate, and tell the person who posted it, who can reply if they think we got it wrong. We may close the accounts of people who repeatedly post infringing content.

7. Music data, prices, AI and links

Where the data comes from. Record information comes from Spindl’s own catalogue, built from public data published by Discogs and MusicBrainz, and from live lookups with Discogs. Cover images come from Discogs, the Cover Art Archive, our own storage or your uploads. Data provided by Discogs. This application uses Discogs’ API but is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Discogs. “Discogs” is a trademark of Zink Media, LLC. Spindl is not affiliated with MusicBrainz or the Internet Archive either.
Estimated values are based on marketplace data. They are estimates for information only — not appraisals, offers or guarantees — and can be inaccurate or out of date, especially for rare records.
AI can be wrong. Cover identifications, suggested pressings, recommendations and album notes are generated automatically and should be checked. Album notes are written with AI from public sources, including Wikipedia.
Affiliate links. Some “Buy” links are Amazon Associates or eBay Partner Network affiliate links; we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Spindl does not sell records, and we are not responsible for third-party sites or what you buy there.

8. Service availability

We aim to keep Spindl available and reliable, but we provide it “as is” and cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of the service, and maintenance may limit access for a time.

9. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, Spindl is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of data. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under the law of the country where you live.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Yumiwi LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of Spindl. Our total liability for any claim relating to Spindl will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Termination

You can stop using Spindl and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms or use Spindl in a way that could harm Spindl or other collectors. Provisions that by their nature should continue (such as payment obligations, disclaimers and limits of liability) survive termination.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email before they apply; where the law requires, we will ask you to accept them again.
